omg i love...fleet foxes.

just because.

omg i love...the kooks.

because this sounds better live than recorded.

omg i love...britt daniel.

because he sings "i summon you" while driving past the spot in king's cross where i threw a late night tantrum six years ago after losing my underground pass one fateful night after the backpacker.

omg i love...the wombats.

because they sing on a boat.

omg i love...yeasayer.

because they treat the paris metro like a giant playground.

Sunday, July 27, 2008

omg i love...mr.bill.

because this commercial never gets old.

Friday, July 25, 2008

omg i love...marc horowitz.

because he's nude and anonymous for freedom.

Monday, July 21, 2008

omg i love...heath ledger.

anything i could ever write about heath ledger would just be trite and insignificant. and, after seeing dark knight, there actually isn't much to say, because i'm still thinking of his performance.

genius. that's about it.

omg i love...harry and jack williams.

because UK version of "roman's empire" is one of my favorite television series of all time (not taking anything away from the american pilot adaptation, of course). the brothers williams are back pitching new concepts, and i could not be more excited.

omg i love...zeljko ivanek.

because he got a much deserved emmy nomination today in the supporting actor / drama category, one of a handful of moves i think the ATAS actually got right.

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

omg i love...arthur laurents.

because he is reviving west side story on broadway!

omg i love...matthew patrick brandon.

because he bravely went where neither jessica or i dared go, and destroyed the roach that has plagued our apartment in one valiant fell swoop.

gold stars, matt. gold stars.

omg i love...mayor bloomberg.

because his new york is like a college campus in the summer.

omg i miss new york :*(

omg i love...mike galante.

because he is an international music video celebrity.

omg i love...matt mazzant.

because he came to work today in a full seersucker suit.

omg i love...ted danson.

****spoiler alert**** because he is BACK as arthur frobisher in season two of damages, the best show on television, which means frobisher didn't die in the field when larry shot him, which means there is a whole new season of mystery to unravel, which is amaaaaaaaaaazing!

omg i love...jacques torres.

because this recipe for chocolate chip cookies sounds incredible.

he also just looks so passionate in this picture.

he's like, "the dough needs at least 24 hours of chill time for maximum taste! and you need at least 60% cacao content! i'm telling you, man - that is the secret to the perfect cookie!"

omg i love...dan miller.

because he wrote a song for his bride.

there are few things i love more in the world than happy wedding stories from the new york times. especially ones that involve distances, meant to bes, and long lost loves like dan's does.

omg i love...max dionne (again).

because he is proactive.

Monday, July 14, 2008

omg i love...josh peck.

because he absolutely kills it in "the wackness."

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

omg i love...rich sommer.

because his blog is adorable. i have watched the video of his kid blabbering nonsense at least 100 times.

omg i love...kevin linehan.

because is the consumate professional older brother.

Monday, July 7, 2008

omg i love...jay-z.

because he has creative balls. sure, his performance of "wonderwall" totally blows. but at least he's trying different things. would chris martin ever walk on stage and bust out with "it was all a dream! i used to read word up magazine!" as an intro to "clocks" ?

doubtful.

omg i love...will from real world:hollywood.

because he fake cried on real world to convince his girlfriend that he was apologetic about cheating on her. fake cried! like, went into the bathroom and forced tears and then came back to the table all forlorn and droopy-faced. it's the kind of move that pretty much defines dbag, yet...it also pretty much defines so bad it's good.

omg i love...biz markie.

because every time i see a commercial for the wackness, i'm reminded how incredible "just a friend" is.

omg i love...the guy at the jetblue counter at gate A-22.

because he let me on my plane after the doors were shut because i was stupidly across JFK watching nadal/federer masterpiece theatre in the sports bar at the main jetblue terminal not realizing that i had to take a shuttle to my gate and when i showed up they were done with boarding but i begged and he showed mercy.

omg i love...floyd.

because it is the best bar i've been to in a really long time. i know a bar is not an actual "him," but the owner is a bro, and the name floyd is masculine, so it still fits with this whole OMG theme.

anyway, walking into floyd's is like walking into the basement of your grandparents' house: dim lighting, exposed brick, crown moulding, antique-y looking furniture, randomly displayed cheap plastic trophies collecting dust, a motherfucking bocci ball court in the back, and zero pretention.

if this bar were in los angeles, it would probably be on a ghetto sidestreet off santa monica in hollywood with no signs or windows or exterior markings, filled with cahuenga corridor hipsters wearing fedoras and polka dots and too much black eyeliner, while a gruff bouncer stood outside turning people away, and everyone talked about how "new york" the whole place felt. aka, totally annoying and unauthentic.

omg i love...mr. w.

because this might be one of the most genius commercials ever created. it's like watching the sixth sense for the first time, and getting to the reveal, and then suddenly everything makes sense, and you go back and watch the whole thing again with your newfound knowledge of what is actually going on, and you're like, wow. someone really put their thinking cap on for this one.

omg i love...my little brother.

because he is basically a prototype for awesome.

omg i love...john durland and bj markle.

because they saved my life. the premise seemed simple: go to brooklyn heights and watch the fireworks crowd-free from the rooftop of john's picturesque brownstone apartment. the catch: said rooftop was only accessible via a tiny ladder of death leading up to a small crawlspace opening of death. then, of course, there was climbing the great wall of death to get up to the landing. let's be honest: athletic ability and coordination are skills i admittedly lack. but couple these shortcomings with the fact that it was raining (which made all outdoor surfaces slick) and i was wearing flops and a white sundress and you get me, at the top of the aforementioned ladder of death, trying desperately to figure out how to get through the crawlspace and down without falling, slipping, destroying my dress, or accidentally flashing cooch to john, bj, or my brother and his girlfriend, who were waiting patiently at the bottom of the ladder, watching my panic attack with a mixture of amusement and disbelief. i would never have made it to the roof without these good samaritans' help, and for that, i am grateful.

omg i love...the leprechaun.

because no one knows quite what he is...just a shadow? a gold digger? or a crackhead who got a hold of the wrong stuff?

this clip is like two years old but the "amateur sketch" of the leprechaun never fails to amuse.

Thursday, July 3, 2008

omg i love...maddox.

because this might just be the best page in the universe. especially this part. my theory in life is: if you're going to be an asshole, at least be clever and funny about it. because then i'll kind of have to love you, despite your asshole tendencies, because you're entertaining. maddox is entertaining.

omg i love...jim williams.

because he has amazing taste. i never read "midnight in the garden of good and evil" and i know he was allegedly accused of murder and all, but the mercer-williams house is incredible.

omg i love...the boys who work at the vendue inn.

because they were the definition of southern hospitality, and they all had adorable accents, and they called me "ma'am."
